Blown-In Attic Insulation
Blown-in attic insulation spreads an even layer over the entire attic floor, around wires and trusses, while a clean existing layer stays in place.
How it works and what it costs
The attic insulation rebate from Ontario's Home Renovation Savings program covers a share of an attic upgrade, with the payment tied to the R-value the attic has before work begins.
Enbridge Gas runs the program together with Save on Energy. What follows is how its website read when we last checked it, in October 2026. Attic insulation rebate rules and amounts can change, so confirm them on homerenovationsavings.ca first.
On the standalone attic route, the goal is R-50 and no energy assessment is needed. The payment depends on today's level: up to $1,250 for an attic at R-12 or less, up to $1,000 for one sitting between R-13 and R-25, and up to $800 for one sitting between R-26 and R-35. Whatever the tier, the attic insulation rebate never exceeds half of what the job cost once tax is added, and the whole accessible attic must be done, not just the easy middle.
Sloped ceilings and flat roofs are paid on a separate scale. Raising one that is at R-25 or less to R-28 pays up to $750, and raising one that is at R-12 or less to R-20 pays up to $650. To qualify, insulation must cover all of the roof area.
Payment on the standalone route goes only to jobs done by a contractor named on the program's list, and that contractor sends in the paperwork. According to the program website, the list is not taking new contractors right now. Six names were on it in October 2026 (Brand Insulation, EcoComfort, George Kent, Great Northern Insulation, Home Depot, Solidcare). Look up the list on homerenovationsavings.ca before booking any job you want this attic insulation rebate to cover.
The second route opens with a home energy assessment by a registered energy advisor and calls for more than one upgrade, for example attic insulation together with air sealing or new windows. An attic earns a little more this way, up to $1,500 from R-12 or less, $1,200 from R-13 to R-25 and $900 from R-26 to R-35, with sloped ceilings and flat roofs at up to $780. On this route the homeowner picks whichever contractor they prefer, and a follow-up assessment after the work confirms the result.
The homeowner must apply; someone who rents out a house can apply for it as well. Detached and semi-detached houses qualify, along with row townhouses (not stacked units) and mobile homes fixed to a permanent foundation; a seasonal cottage may qualify too. Gas-heated homes need an active Enbridge account with a gas furnace or boiler; homes heated by electricity, propane, oil or wood must be tied to the Ontario grid. A home occupied for six months or less is excluded, as is any address where an earlier attic insulation rebate was paid, whether by Enbridge, Save on Energy or a different Ontario program.
The program is currently scheduled to end November 30, 2026. One extension has already happened, from the same date in 2025, and another is possible, but money goes out in the order applications arrive and the terms allow an earlier stop. This page was last checked in October 2026.
A free attic visit gives you the starting depth and R-value in writing, which is the figure both routes ask for. Call (343) 301-5519 to book it, and see the home page for the rest of our work.
These jobs are often quoted together, because the same visit and the same crew can handle them in one trip to the attic.

How it works and what it costs
R-60 attic insulation is our usual target for Barrhaven attics: a deep, even layer over a sealed ceiling.
How it works and what it costs
Attic insulation removal vacuums out wet, dirty or flattened material, leaving a bare floor that can be sealed and filled again from scratch.
How it works and what it costs
Attic air sealing plugs the gaps in the ceiling so warm house air stays downstairs, and it happens on every job before anything new goes on top.
How it works and what it costs
Attic ventilation moves outside air in at the soffits and out near the ridge, so the attic stays cold and dry in winter and less hot in summer.
How it works and what it costs
Room over garage insulation warms the bedroom or bonus room above an attached garage by sealing and insulating its floor, its short side walls and the slope overhead.
How it works and what it costs
Cathedral ceiling insulation fills the rafters above a sloped or vaulted ceiling, a closed space too tight for loose fill to be spread across.
How it works and what it costs
Attic insulation cost in Barrhaven depends on the attic's floor area, the depth you add, the sealing needed and whether old material comes out first.
